Publicity
Since the SDBTT William Doolin Trust Fund was set up in December 2006, it has generated a lot of publicity. The local Dover paper. The Dover Express had already published a major article about William and his mother, Maureen, just after he died. Since then, they have published other articles and information about the trust and its events. The paper is kept fully informed of all events and their outcomes. Even so, there is never enough good publicity to support such a worth cause and the Trust has also made use of posters, flyers and positive word of mouth from people who have participated in, or contributed to, the various activities.
As our aim is to raise as much money as possible for research into Medulloblastoma we need to generate as much publicity as possible. The creation of the William Doolin Fund website, generously funded by Summit Media, will become a major organ for publicity. In addition to providing a permanent memorial to William, the website will provide information on Medulloblastoma and of the research to find a cure. It will provide a forum for other families affected by Medulloblastoma to share their experiences and it will provide information on fundraising, both by the William Doolin Fund and by other organisations aiming to raise money to support research into Medulloblastoma.
So far, over £16,000.00 has been raised for the SDBTT William Doolin Trust Fund thanks to various events including sponsored walks, both locally and in New Zealand; sponsored swims; raffles; sales of home made goods; raffles and quizzes; generous donations both of money and in kind.
