Our aims/objectives
There are many excellent websites, both professional and personal, which support and provide information on Cancer, both generically and specifically. The William Doolin Fund Website does not attempt to replicate their contribution or to detract from the invaluable work they do. The William Doolin Fund website is specifically and only concerned with Medulloblastoma, the form of Brain Tumour which William had and which is the second most common form of childhood cancer. Where information is given, it is in the context of personal experience and links are given to professional information, either through the text or as a directory of useful sites.
It is hoped that, over time, the website will become a resource for parents, families and friends to share experience and knowledge, in a mutually supportive way, and provide a focus for a collective and collaborative move to support research to find a cure for Medulloblastoma.
The William Doolin Fund Website has four main aims:
- To keep alive the memory of William Doolin of Dover, Kent, England, who died of Medulloblastoma, in October 2006, aged 10 years and 10 months, less than a year after diagnosis.
- To help raise awareness of Medulloblastoma and its treatment and to provide supportive, non-specialist guidance for other families who are similarly affected, including direction to medical and other websites.
- To provide a discussion and information forum for contact between families who are similarly affected including the opportunity for others to share their experiences in the hope it will provide mutual support.
- To fundraise, providing information on SDBTT William Doolin fundraising events, and to publicise and support fundraising events organised by other groups to help finance research to find a cure for Medulloblastoma.
