Memories & contributions
William, by Mum
William’s story began almost eleven years ago when he arrived on his due date 28th December 1995. He was a very lively and bright toddler, eager to learn.
Remembering William - St Richard's Primary School
St Richard's Catholic Primary School has dedicated a bench in William's memory. The words were chosen by William's classmates. The school has also dedicated a shield in William's memory to be presented each year.
Remembering William - 13th Dover (St. Paul's) Scout Group
William's cub group has dedicated 'The William Doolin Award' in his memory. This is presented to the outstanding 'Cub of the Year'.
By Gerald, William's uncle
I did so many things with William. A lot of course involved sport, but then I could write a separate book on that subject alone. Especially football where either playing, watching or discussing it with me, his ability for all three was just outstanding.
By Sue, William's Auntie
I have so many memories, it is hard for me to know which ones to tell. They flash through my mind all day every day.
By Doris, William's Aunties' mum
When William came into my life, he brought happiness and made me feel young again. I can hear his laughter, when he would say come on Doris you can do it, when he was teaching me to play one of his games.
By Conor, William's friend
William was one of my best friends and I have a lot of happy memories of him and the times we spent together. Here is just one of them and every time I think of it, it always makes me laugh.
By Sam Revill, William's friend
William has been my friend for as long as I can remember, mainly because our mums were friends for a long time before we were even born. It was because we had so much in common that we became such good friends though.
By Ben, William's friend
William was one of the best friends a boy could have. He was a competitive footballer, always trying his hardest to win. He never hurt anyone emotionally and was always a pleasure to be with.
By Claire, William's physiotherapist
I began working with William in March 2006, after he had undergone his surgery in London. William was then back at home and undergoing chemotherapy. Initially I was unsure what to expect and did not know how William would respond to us.
By Sue, William's Home Tutor
I was William’s home tutor for only a short while, but there was never a time I didn’t look forward to our time together.
