Chemotherapy drugs used to treat Medulloblastoma

A variety of different single drugs and combinations can be used to treat medulloblastoma. These include:

Chemotherapy is not usually a single treatment, but a course of treatments. Standard chemotherapy treatment for medulloblastoma may take up to a year consisting of 8 or 9 cycles but this may vary for each individual.

A cycle is a period of time, during which a patient will have a complete chemotherapy treatment and then a break before the next treatment. Therefore if the cycle lasts 6 weeks, treatment may be on the 1st and 2nd day and then again on the 8th and 15th days. Then a three week break before the cycle next starts. This is called a protocol.

Depending on the drug or combination of drugs, treatment can last from a few hours to a few days.
